Land transactions can offer significant opportunities—but also unique risks—for real estate brokers.
This course explores the fundamentals of land development, including site selection and feasibility, zoning, environmental considerations, infrastructure, and the stages of development. Through real-world scenarios and practical tools, brokers will learn how to evaluate development potential, communicate effectively with clients, and recognize when specialized expertise is needed.
Special emphasis is placed on broker competency, disclosure obligations, ethical responsibilities, and compliance.
South Carolina Licensees: This course is approved for North Carolina CE credit only and does not satisfy South Carolina CE requirements.
Course materials will be available through Canopy Campus prior to class. Students attending in person will receive a hard copy upon arrival.
Students must attend at least 90% of the course and comply with Canopy Real Estate Institute's participation and attendance policies to receive CE credit. The 10% attendance allowance may not be used to leave class early.
CE course tuition is nonrefundable. Students who provide written notice prior to the day of class may transfer their registration to a comparable future course or place the registration on HOLD. One course transfer is permitted without penalty. All transferred or held registrations must be completed by June 10 of the same license period.
A student may transfer their course registration one-time with no penalty, provided that the new course is comparable, hasn't started and the fee remains unchanged. However, if additional transfers are needed, the student will forfeit the fee and be obligated to pay the full amount again.
